Rates and Pricing
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has released the electricity commodity prices that will take effect from November 1, 2011 to April 30, 2012, under the Regulated Price Plan (RPP)
RPP prices, reviewed semi-annually, are reflected on the "Electricity" line of residential and small business consumer bills for those who purchase their power directly from their local utility.
Time-of-Use (TOU) and Two Tierd Prices are changing as follows:

RPP prices (TOU and Tiered) are changing because the forecasted cost of supply is changing. The main factors are increased nuclear and renewable generation coming online during the forecast period.
The OEB reviews and may adjust prices every six months to ensure what you pay for electricity accurately reflects the cost paid to generators.
The RPP smoothes these prices for you, so that you pay the true cost of electricity over time, but are not subject to the day-to-day market volatility.
The OEB also assumes the responsibility of approving the individual distribution rates in the Province of Ontario. For further information on the OEB's role in the rate setting process, go to www.ontarioenergyboard.ca
