  • Whenever possible, use your appliances after 8 p.m. when electricity demand is not at its peak.
  • Replace your incandescent light bulbs with ENERGY STAR® qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs.
  • Make a habit of turning off lights when you leave a room.
  • Maximize the amount of daylight in your home to reduce the use of lights.
  • Consider dimmer switches and motion censors to help you reduce the use of indoor and outdoor lights when you may forget to turn off.
  • Plug your electronics into power bars and turn off the bar when they are not in use.
  • Install pump timers on pools and spas.
